here’s my next new one! this one is a fairly plain theme. you know the drill, ask about any bugs you notice. enjoy!
Don't remove credit. This includes taking out the credit link I have included in the theme and moving it to a subpage. I've worked really hard on all my themes and leaving the credit intact is only a small thing to ask in return.
Do not repost, copy, or claim my work as your own. Every theme I post comes with this same warning at the top of the code. This includes copy and pasting parts of my themes and passing them off as your own.
Do not use my themes as bases. This coincides directly with the previous rule. Do not copy or use parts of my themes as a base for your own. Looking at my themes to learn is absolutely fine, but blatantly copying code is not. If you'd like some base codes to help you get started, this is a great resource.
1. How can I make the background repeat/change its position?
Find (Ctrl + F) the background-position or background-repeat in the CSS and change it accordingly:
background-position: left/right top/bottom;
2. The description covers the page navigation!
Customize > Appearance > Sidebar Image Height. Input the value in pixels of the height of your sidebar image and the description will also be that height.
3. How do I add a page to my blog? The link to the page isn’t showing up! What do I do?
To create a page: Customize > Appearance > + Add A Page
To add a link to a page: Customize > Appearance and enter your page url (/yourpagename) in one of the link boxes provided.
4. When I try to link to pages on my blog, none of them work! What’s wrong? How do I link to a page of tags?
Be sure to include the http:// part of the link or use the relative url. To link to a page of tags use the url: http://yourblogname.tumblr.com/tagged/your_tag_name
5. The font size is too large/too small. How do I adjust it?
Find (Ctrl + F) the font-size in the CSS and change the number accordingly. My default is 11px. If you wish to change the font size on the sidebar, simply locate the same value under the #sidebar section.
6. Help! I can’t get the ask box to show up!
The link to the ask box won’t work if it’s not turned on. Go to your blog settings and make sure you have it enabled.
7. How can I move the sidebar picture? The description? The page navigation? Etc etc.
I simply cannot help with minor adjustments like this to theme codes. I don’t have the time to alter them for each individual person who asks. If you have the know how and the capabilities by all means you are free to edit them as much as you wish (so long as credit remains in place). Otherwise, I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do for you.
8. How can I enable endless scrolling? A music player? Etc etc.
I don’t know. I didn’t design the themes that way and I haven’t had any desire to add those options to my coding. I suggest googling or check resource blogs for codes and adding them in. Good luck.
9. I need help with theme 3!
You can find an explanation here for how to move the page navigation from the right sidebar to the left sidebar on theme 3. If your right sidebar images are cut off on the bottom, I recommend using images that are not as tall or you can delete the postion:fixed; value for them in the CSS. However, that means when you scroll through your posts, the images will no longer be fixed on the side and visible.
Choose one of the download methods offered with the theme. I usually provide a freetexthost and pastebin link. Copy and paste the entire code. Then go to Customize > Edit HTML. Press Ctrl + A to select everything and then hit backspace to delete it. Now paste the brand new code you just copied in there, hit update preview, and save.
The theme is still not going to look exactly like it did in my live preview, and it's not ready for customizing yet. What you need to do is exit out of the customize page entirely. Then re-enter the customize page and the defaults should have reset so you can start editing your theme!
